Give a gift - Donating to a shelter of your choice is possibly the quickest and easiest way to help out a shelter organization that you are familiar with. If want to make a difference for pets, but don’t have an affiliation with a shelter, BISSELL Pet Foundation has over 4,000 accredited shelter partners and will be sure that 100% of your donation will go to saving a life.
Amazon wish list - If you don’t want to give money and still want to help pets directly, check out your local shelter’s Amazon wishlist to see a list of things they need. If you can’t purchase, you can get crafty and make dog beds, blankets or toys for the adoptable pets.
2. Volunteer: Shelters are always in search of people willing to play, socialize and exercise the pets in their care. Educate yourself on the needs of the shelters by spending time visiting them.
You may even want to consider fostering a pet to get them acclimated to a home environment, so their adoption process is smoother.
3. Buy gifts that give back:
When shopping this holiday season, look for brands that give back to worthy causes. If you are looking to make a difference for pets, BISSELL gives up to $10 for every pet product purchased. Additionally, the new Dogist Collection Tshirt apparel line devoted to giving back and celebrating our best friends – DOGS.
For every item purchased, we will donate a meal to a pup in need. Each month, The Dogist will team up with a shelter around the world to help feed & find homes for adoptable dogs.
Join us in #feedingfriends.
This season we are partnering with Animal Haven. To learn more, read about our Rescue Partner Program.
5. Adopt - There are so many deserving pets looking for a home, but remember, before embarking on this journey, pets are a lifelong commitment.
If you choose adoption, you save two lives. The pet you adopt and the one that takes its place in a shelter.
If you thinking of adding a dog or cat to your family, BISSELL Pet Foundation’s Empty the Shelters adoption event is being held Saturday, December 1st at 81 shelters in 14 states across the country. There are so many deserving pets looking for a home, but remember pets are a lifelong commitment.
